BROADSOFT AND INTEGRAL ACCESS PARTNER TO DELIVER ENHANCED VOICE SERVICESInteroperability Testing Successfully Completed to Accelerate the Migration to IP Centrex and Hosted PBXGAITHERSBURG, MD, and CHELMSFORD, MA - November 11, 2002 - BroadSoft®, Inc., the leading provider of voice applications and servers, and Integral Access, Inc., the leading provider of IP access networks, today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between BroadSoft’s award-winning BroadWorks™ solution and Integral Access’ award-winning PurePacket access network solution. The BroadSoft-Integral Access solution will allow service providers to substantially cut operating expenses by simplifying network management and delivering more efficient and higher quality voice services. The joint solution will enable users with traditional analog devices
to benefit from BroadWorks IP Centrex and hosted PBX capabilities by leveraging
Integral Access’ PurePacket technology in a softswitch architecture.
PurePacket allows service providers to take advantage of the operational
efficiencies of its IP-based access network technology and to offer additional
services, such as converged voice and data, without the need for increased
bandwidth. This also provides a migrational path from traditional circuit-switched
services to new IP Centrex and enterprise voice services. With Integral
Access’ multi-service access gateway and BroadWorks’ comprehensive
suite of enhanced voice services, service providers can now ensure customers
quality of service and carrier-class telephony over the last mile. Service
providers will also benefit from enhanced security and reliability, as
well as easier network management. “Integral Access’ PurePacket technology delivers a high-performance end-to-end access solution that perfectly complements BroadWorks’ voice applications and servers. The successful integration of BroadWorks and Integral Access’ PurePacket technology will present significant cost savings for our customers, while enabling them to offer additional carrier-class services. We look forward to working with them to deliver efficient voice solutions to our customers”, said Michael Tessler, president and CEO, BroadSoft. BroadWorks is the industry's first integrated system of voice applications and servers enabling service providers to deliver basic and enhanced voice services to enterprises. BroadWorks’ voice applications and servers enable providers to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy a comprehensive portfolio of carrier-class telephony services such as IP Centrex, hosted PBX, voice VPN, and enhanced network applications. Using BroadWorks, service providers and customer administrators can manage administrative functions with BroadSoft’s patented web-based portal, CommPilotä. The BroadWorks architecture can scale to support millions of subscribers and to deliver 99.999% total system availability. The PurePacket system is an intelligent IP-based access solution that allows carriers to deliver a comprehensive set of converged services over a single multi-purpose network regardless of the last mile link available for reaching customers. To maximize the traffic carrying capacity of networks and increase revenue opportunities for carriers, PurePacket uses an IP/MPLS-based architecture to route, transport and switch voice, video, and data transmissions in packet format. PurePacket provides simultaneous support for domestic and international circuit-switch networks and global softswitch architectures as a line access gateway - facilitating the migration to an all packet-based infrastructure.
