teliko Selects Integral Access PurePacket System to Deliver Integrated Business Class Services in Germany

Integral Access and Quante AG Provide Competitive and Operational Edge for Carrier in World's Third Largest Telecom Market

ATLANTA, USA - June 4, 2002 - Integral Access®, Inc. -- the intelligent IP access network company -- and Quante, a leading German provider of digital transmission technology, today announced here at SuperComm 2002 that competitive local exchange carrier teliko has selected the PurePacket™ platform to deliver integrated business class voice and broadband data services to customers in Germany. teliko is deploying the new version of the PurePacket access network platform announced yesterday (see related Integral Access press release) to deliver converged ISDN voice and xDSL data services over a single copper line to business customers. Integral Access business partner Quante sells and supports the PurePacket family of MPLS-based multi-service access products to service providers in Germany, as well as Austria, Poland and Hungary. Integral Access will demonstrate the PurePacket system at SuperComm booth 11831 in Hall "C" of the Georgia World Congress Center.

teliko, a leading provider of integrated communications services for businesses throughout Germany, is currently deploying PurePacket to offer a complete range of IP-based communications services to businesses in all its markets. The PurePacket platform, which utilizes IP and MPLS technologies to optimize network bandwidth, enables teliko to create different classes of data services and bundle them with varying numbers of voice lines on a single xDSL link.

"teliko's goal is to build one converged IP-based access network from which we can cost-effectively deliver all services to our customers," said Sascha Holste, managing director for teliko. "The PurePacket platform allows us to reduce capital expenditures and operational costs by eliminating the need to deploy and manage multiple network elements for each new service we want to offer. This allows us to generate greater revenue over our existing network while gaining greater network efficiencies."

PurePacket enables teliko to deliver integrated business class services over a single xDSL link and create unique multi-line and broadband service packages without having to lease expensive E1 connections or additional copper lines. In addition, PurePacket allows teliko to immediately benefit from the operational and service creation efficiencies of IP access networks without replacing its existing Class 5 voice infrastructure. PurePacket's simultaneous support for the V5.2 and MGCP protocols ensures an easy migration path for teliko when it is ready to move to a SoftSwitched voice network without incurring the burden and cost of a wholesale network replacement or overlay.

"teliko is an excellent example of a new class of carrier that is taking advantage of the bandwidth efficiencies and operational benefits of the PurePacket platform to create competitively priced service bundles and gain market share," said Guy Chenard, vice president, marketing and business development, Integral Access. "Our partnership with Quante has been instrumental in establishing Integral Access as a leading vendor in the German telecom market."

PurePacket Overview

The PurePacket multi-service access system enables carriers to deliver all services over a single network using virtually any transport media including copper pairs, xDSL, leased lines, and fiber links. It is the first 100 percent packet-based access solution that utilizes MPLS to optimize bandwidth efficiencies and make connectionless networks behave like their connection-oriented predecessors. PurePacket preserves the QoS and Class of Service (CoS) levels of traditional circuit-based networks, and provides the resource efficiency of IP transport by dynamically allocating bandwidth between voice, video and data applications. The PurePacket system is composed of the award winning PurePacketNode® carrier class access network aggregation platform for central offices, co-locations, and points of presence; the PurePacketCompactÔ which provides the same service capabilities as the PurePacketNode for small campus, in-building or low density applications; PurePacketOUTburst® customer premise IADs; and the robust and flexible PurePacketOMS™ for network/element control and services management.
