Integral Access Appoints Paul Mercer
Senior Vice President of Engineering

Leading Provider of MPLS-Based Multi Service Access Equipment Names Former Lucent and Bell Labs Executive to Top Engineering Post

CHELMSFORD, Mass. - Aug. 28, 2001 - Integral Access®, Inc. -- the intelligent MPLS access company -- today announced the appointment of Paul Mercer to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Engineering. Mercer brings more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications transmission and switching equipment to this new position on the Integral Access executive management team.

Mercer assumes responsibility for managing software and hardware engineering, project management, system testing, and customer support organizations for the company's PurePacket™ access network system. He has deep expertise in engineering, testing, and product development management. Mercer recently led engineering efforts for access technologies at Lucent Technologies, which included responsibility for the AnyMedia Access System. He also spent numerous years developing new telecommunications technologies at AT&T Bell Labs.

Prior to joining Integral Access, Mercer was Vice President of Engineering at Lucent Technologies where he managed worldwide R&D for the AnyMedia Access System. He has held senior level technical management positions at Lucent, and AT&T Bell Labs (now Lucent Technologies), in project management, systems engineering, and testing for a wide range of telecommunications technologies. Mercer holds a Master of Electrical Engineering degree from Cornell University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
