PurePacket™ from Integral Access is an integrated, multi-service, packet-based platform that can support current and future voice and data services over existing infrastructure. It's the one solution that enables competitive carriers to enter and grow markets economically while offering a full range of bread-and-butter as well as high-margin premium services.

The PurePacket family includes PurePacketNode carrier network equipment (for central offices, co-locations and points of presence), PurePacketOUTburst® customer-located equipment, and PurePacketOMS™, a powerful network management system. Based on Integral Access' PurePacketPower™ architecture, all traffic is routed, transported and switched in a packet format, achieving bandwidth efficiencies as well as carrier savings.

More Services, More Quickly, Less Cost:
PurePacket enables the competitive carrier to deliver multiple services—voice and data—over a single customer access line. This packet-based approach allows competitive carriers to aggressively attack markets, achieving the maximum revenues for the minimum cost. PurePacket supports a broad service portfolio including circuit-switched voice, digital voice (PABX), Voice over DSL and Voice over IP (VoIP). It also supports a wide range of IP and traditional data services including Internet Access, LAN Interconnect, Frame Relay and legacy SNA applications.

Fully-Flexible Access Loop Bandwidth: Packetization brings many benefits. In the packet world voice and data streams are transformed into packets which fully utilize, in a dynamic and efficient fashion, all the available bandwidth, all the time. Additionally, packetization enables voice activity detection and silence suppression which further enhances bandwidth utilization. In comparison to a traditional TDM system which can only deliver 24 simultaneous voice channels on a T1 leased line, PurePacket can deliver 24 voice calls and 512 Kbit/s of committed data on the same T1 leased line. For the same service portfolio, the operator saves significantly on leased line costs when compared to a traditional TDM system.

Quality of Service Guarantees: PurePacket employs Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms which allocate priorities to different traffic flows. Awarding the highest priority to voice traffic and utilizing on-board echo cancellation guarantees toll quality voice. Data services, characterized by Committed Information Rate (CIR) and Peak Information Rate (PIR), can be tailored to the specific needs of the end-customer.

PurePacket bridges the circuit-switched past with the IP future in providing a packet-based system optimized for data while also delivering toll quality voice at low cost. Being MPLS-based, the system is compatible with IP backbones while delivering legacy voice service from a Class 5 switch.

Integrated Transport Functionality: PurePacket utilizes standard interfaces from DS-1/E1 through OC-12/STM-4 enabling carriers to utilize an existing transport system, including SONET/SDH and ATM. PurePacket's integrated transport functionality allows carriers to build economic, add/drop, path-protected access rings.

True Carrier Class: PurePacket meets the rigorous reliability and scalability requirements of the competitive carrier environment. Various redundancy options enable even higher levels of availability for those critical customers and services. The system is modular using common plug-ins throughout.

Low-cost Entry and Economic Scalability: PurePacket is based on a cost-effective and scalable fabric which, along with more powerful digital signal processing capabilities, make it possible to get service up and running economically. The cost of serving the 10th, 100th and 1000th customer is low in comparison to competitive solutions. This represents significant incremental opportunity for service providers, who previously could not economically address the under-served medium to small business and residential segments as well as business parks, multi-tenanted buildings, towns and villages. On-board GR-303 functionality further boosts the attractiveness of the system.

Total Network Visibility and Control: The PurePacket Operations Management System revolutionizes service deployment and service assurance. Accepting customer orders, deploying service, maintaining the quality of the service at or above the contracted level, and accurately billing the customer are critical OSS functions which the Integral Access solution supports.

The PurePacket Access Network Platform PurePacket is frame based and optimized for packet data. Making full use of available bandwidth, it provides consistent, high-quality voice simultaneously with data traffic.

We provide a complete set of elements to build your access network using the basic building block of the system, the PurePacketNode.
