Bundled Services

Integral Access offers service providers a next generation, multi-service access solution to deliver a broad portfolio of "bundled" services. Because PurePacket™ is inherently multi-service, integrated voice, data, and video services can be provided cost effectively using a common solution, under a single management system.

All traffic within a PurePacket domain is packetized. Traffic either arrives already in packet form, such as IP traffic, or as TDM voice, which is packetized using VoMPLS. Because all traffic is packetized is can be classified by multiple classes of services (voice, video and tiered data).

PurePacket implements Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and an advanced traffic management algorithm to ensure a given Quality of Service (QoS) for various traffic types and to guarantee that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) can be met. PurePacket also performs dynamic bandwidth allocation and statistical multiplexing. This allows a service provider to recover idle and stranded bandwidth and put it to revenue-generating use delivering Best Effort data services (typical for Internet Access applications like web surfing and email).

A key element of providing bundled services is being able to take advantage of a common management system, the PurePacketOMS™ (Operations Management System).

PurePacketOMS leverages the intelligence embedded in the PurePacket components to provide XO with a 'single-system image' of their access network. PurePacketOMS is comprised of a suite of core applications that are FCAPS-based -providing for functional (discipline-specific) management services. To reduce the complexities of managing a converged services environment, the PurePacketOMS provides powerful Wizards that serve to link these function-specific applications and sub-applications deliver a process-oriented operational paradigm.

By providing automated service configuration and zero-touch, end-to-end flow-through provisioning, PurePacketOMS allows a service provider to rapidly deploy and activate new revenue-generating services.

This combination of network intelligence and automation also enables service providers to guarantee QoS on a per-service, per-customer basis. For voice services this means toll-quality voice - at all times. For differentiated data services this means being able to maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and provide usage-based billing.
