Integral Access offers service providers a next generation, multi-service access solution to deliver a broad portfolio of data services enabling customers access to the Internet or participation in Managed IP services.

PurePacket supports two methods of Internet access. One is a simple transport of IP traffic from a customer's network to a service provider's backbone network. The second is to utilize PurePacket's Virtual IP Routing (VIPR) capabilities to extend IP routing within the access network.

PurePacket supports a suite of Managed IP services built upon our implementation of VIPR. VIPR capabilities supported are:

  • Network Address and Port Translation (NAT/NAPT)
  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server and Relay
  • Routing Information Protocol (RIPv1 and RIPv2)
  • Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)

Using VIPR, the following Managed IP services can be supported:

  • Virtual Routing for Internet Access
  • 802.1Q Virtual LANs (VLANs) support for Customer Premise traffic classification
  • 802.1Q VLAN support for delivery of differentiated data services
  • Virtual Private Networks

PurePacket also supports a transport only solution for routed traffic (HDLC, SDLC, PPP and Frame Relay).

Customer access to data services are through a 10/100 Base-Tx Ethernet interface on a PurePacketOutburst® Integrated Access Device (IAD) or via ADSL modem termination on the PurePacketNode®. Where applicable in multi-tenant or campus environments, the PurePacketNode or PurePacketCompact™ also provide a 10/100 Base-Tx (or 10/100 Base-Fx) Ethernet interface for subscriber access.

PurePacketNode, deployed in a service provider's co-location site or central office provides connectivity with the service provider's "managed" backbone network for the transport of IP traffic. A variety of backbone network interfaces (e.g. Ethernet, Clear channel TDM, Packet over SONET, ATM, or MPLS) are available as appropriate for a service provider's transport network. Product specifications can be found on the PurePacketNode datasheet.
